Introduced by Assistant District Governor, Ivette Martin Colon, San Juan Rotary warmly welcomed 2019-2020 District 7000 Governor, MARILYN LOPEZ, who gave an overview of the many areas of activities and projects to be covered in her Rotary Year.  Club Administration, Service to the Community, Public Image, contributions to The Rotary Foundation and, a most important focus - how to increase membership in our club and district.  An area where San Juan Rotary achieved outstanding success was our club's participation in Rotary International's Global Grant funding.  With four grants approved, including Teatro por Amor ($99,700). P.E.C.E.S. ($100,000), Para La Naturaleza ($289,000), and SOUNS  ($163,000), and four more submitted and either approved or in process, under Director Georganna Hildebrand, the Club had a banner year.  Director Ray Erb gave his report on Interact-Rotaract, Rotary International's Youth Services Clubs, followed by reports from all the directors.

MARILYN LOPEZ, a native of Ponce, holds many advanced degrees and has held professional positions in both Catholic U and Interamerican U + teaching music in the Caribbean School in Ponce.  Marred to Past District Governor, Jorge Vazquez, with four children and two grandkids, she has served in multiple leadership positions in our District and in Rotary International.  A strong believer in the Rotary Foundation she is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Major Donor.  Member of the Puerto Rico Symphonic Choir, and Choir Director of the Ponce First Methodist Church, Governor Marilyn treated us to a beautiful rendition of "En mi Viejo San Juan"..  The club looks forward to working with this dynamic Rotarian.  .

A beautiful flower arrangement, a check to The Rotary Foundation to add to her Paul Harris Fund, and the ubiquitous Speaker's Mug, were graciously accepted by DG Marilyn from San Juan Rotary President, Gerry Cumpiano.
